Following the huge success of the Coerver® Youth Diploma courses in the UK over the last 4 years which has seen over 1200 coaches from all corners of the globe take part, Coerver® Coaching UK was selected as one of only two regions that would host the new Coerver® Youth Diploma 2 course globally in 2015.

Alongside Coerver® USA who will be hosting a Youth Diploma 2 course later in the year, Coerver® UK will be hosting a Youth Diploma 2 course in London at Fulham FC in June 2015 which will be delivered by Coerver® co-founder Alf Galustian and in partnership with adidas® and FourFourTwo Performance.

Following a registration of interest period in December exclusively for Youth Diploma 1 attendees, a priority booking window opened on Monday for the London course and within 48 hours the course was Sold Out.

Coerver® UK Director Scott Wright said “We were absolutely delighted to have been chosen to host one of only two Youth Diploma 2 courses that will take place globally in 2015 following the huge success of our courses over the last four years. We are as equally pleased that after just 48 hours of the priority booking window opening, the course is sold out which shows the huge demand that there is for knowledge in the Coerver programme”.

“We will have coaches attending from all corners of the globe as well as our own staff and this will certainly be a fantastic coach education event where we will be presenting our new approach to the team game which we are really excited about”.

Coerver® co-founder Alf Galustian (see above image), who will be the lead instructor on the course said
“We are very happy to introduce our new Youth Diploma 2 course which is especially designed for coaches who have attended Youth Diploma 1”.

“In this new course, we are going to focus on developing a team style, what skills individually and in small groups do players need?, What do you teach them?, How do you teach them?, not only the skills and tactics, but also the mental and attitude aspects”.

“During this course I’m going to share with attendees, some of my personal experiences from working with some of the greatest clubs and federations in the world”. “A particular focus of the course is to show you how to develop individual players that are multi-positional, both attackers and defenders, with all practices and games being adaptable to players of all ages and abilities”.

“We are really looking forward to delivering this new course and believe that our approach to developing a team style will be of great benefit to those that will be in attendance at Fulham FC in June”.

Coerver® Coaching West Midlands Performance Academy Player Sam Khan has received an award on behalf of Chelsea Football Club prior to the clubs title winning game against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge last month.

Sam (Pictured above, alongside the 2015 winners) has previously taken part in “Chelsea’s Asian Star”, an initiative aimed at addressing the lack of Asians in the English game, which invites 400 children to the club’s state-of-the-art training facility in Surrey on an annual basis to put them through their paces. Sam came second during his first attempt in 2009 and followed that up by winning the competition in his age category in 2011.

Sam’s mother Ruth explained her pride at Sam’s recognition “Chelsea FC were notified that they were to be presented before kick off against Crystal Palace in May, with an award for their continuing campaign and the recognition its received. Sam, having been an active participant and supporter of this campaign for the past 5 years, was asked if he would receive the award on behalf of Chelsea FC with the owner Roman Abramovich. What an absolute honour for Sam to be asked to do this. His Dad and I are overwhelmed by what he has achieved to date. Of all the people they could have asked, and they asked our Little SK.”

Sam spoke of the competition “I still have great memories of Asian Star, it gave me so much confidence knowing the coaches at Chelsea were impressed with me. The event is so well organised and every player has the chance to impress. My advice would be to give it everything you have but make sure you enjoy the day as that is when you play your best and it can give you a great opportunity in football.”

Sam was in attendance again this year to present trophies to the 2015 winners, which included another Coerver® Coaching West Midlands Performance Academy player Adam Ahmed who won the U9 category.

West Midlands Performance Academy Manager, Luke Cheyne, said of the honour “All at Coerver Coaching UK would like to congratulate Sam on this recognition. Sam works extremely hard within our Performance Academy programme, alongside playing for Nottingham Forest. He continues to develop technically on the pitch as well as mature off it. We are confident that should he keep up this level of dedication to his own development, he is destined for a very bright future. Well done Sam!”

Luke added “We have a number of players within our Performance Academy who currently play for professional clubs, and a number who have signed for professional clubs since being a part of the Coerver programme. We feel that the Performance Academy offers the perfect environment for young players to learn what it takes to make the step up into academy football”.

Coerver® Coaching West Midlands are delighted to announce that Performance Academy member Vinnie Dwyer, has signed a new 2 year contract at Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club. Vinnie attends the Performance Academy in Coventry to supplement the work he does within his professional academy environment.

Following the news, Vinnie’s parents Conor & Lisa said Since Vinnie has attended Coerver we can see a great development in his technical side which is the main reason he attends Coerver. For us as parents, more importantly, we see the Vinnie really enjoying himself and being allowed to express himself with encouragement from all the coaches. Vinnie’s coach, Luke, has been especially supportive of Vinnie both on and off the training pitch which we are incredibly grateful for”.

Marc Campbell, Foundation Phase Lead Coach at Wolverhampton Wanderers recognised the work Vinnie has been doing at Coerver® “Vinnie has developed his technical ability massively over the last 12-18 months which I believe has been due to his development within the academy programme and the additional work that he has been doing with Coerver. Vinnie has continued to develop his ability to manipulate the ball with both feet comfortably in unopposed and opposed situations well and I believe this has increased due to the additional work he has been doing with Coerver”.

Marc added “Vinnie has been keen to feedback to his team mates and coaches about his experiences with Coerver® and was over the moon about being invited to visit Real Madrid (something that every player dreams about) and really enjoyed the time that he spent in Spain. Vinnies application and positive attitude to combine his academy training programme with his Coerver work has no doubt been beneficial to him over his last 18 months with us and I was delighted to offer him another contract with the football club for a further two years”.

Vinnie (Pictured with Real Madrid Castilla player Javier Noblejas) spoke of the signing “I have signed for a further 2 years with Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, with the coaches mentioning my hard work and commitment as some of the reasons I’ve been given the contract. A special mention was given to my technical improvement and how they felt my time with Coerver Coaching has really helped me develop that side of my game. I feel Coerver has helped me socially, physically and technically and it’s a great addition to the great coaching I get with my academy, Wolves”.

Coerver® Coaching West Midlands Performance Academy Manager and Vinnie’s Performance Academy Coach Luke Cheyne was delighted to hear of Vinnie’s news “Vinnie epitomises the type of mindset that has allowed him to continue to progress, on and off the pitch. Vinnie is always keen to understand his strengths and areas for improvement, and off his own back, always requests continuous feedback in regards to this”.

Luke added “His consistent hard work, determination and passion for ensuring no stone goes un-turned in terms of his development as a young player, has seen him improve all aspects of his games whilst involved in the Coerver Programme. He has now begun to develop not only his technical ability with both feet, but also the tactical awareness off the ball. Without a shadow of a doubt, a bright future lies ahead for Vinnie providing he continues his excellent work rate. He is a credit to himself. Well done Vinnie”.

Scott Wright, UK Director Coerver® Coaching said “The concept behind Performance Academy is to give players a professional level of support both on and off the pitch. We have different levels of ability within the programme which are all catered for, the big requirement for us is that the players need to want to learn and work hard while they are with us but also while they are at home. We have had enormous success in terms of players progressing to professional clubs from our programme in the UK which is testament to the fantastic work that the staff here have done and continue to do and of course the application of the players and the commitment of the parents, it really is a team effort”.

Scott added “Vinnie is a prime example of a young player who has worked extremely hard and has benefitted immensely from the environment that we provide here at Performance Academy. Vinnie profited hugely from the Coerver UK PRO Tour whereby 60 Performance Academy players were given the opportunity to travel to Spain and train at the world famous Real Madrid training centre. We wish Vinnie luck in the next part of his football education with Wolverhampton Wanderers and I’m sure if he continues to apply himself in the way he has with us, he will do well”.

Coerver® Coaching UK delivered the first Youth Diploma 1 course of 2015 at Stoke City FC on Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th May 2015 which proved to be a big hit with attendees.

The course, which was launched in 2011, and delivered in association with global partner adidas® and presenting partner FourFourTwo magazine, was the first to take place under the newly structured Coerver® Coach Education pathway which now covers three levels to include the Coerver® Coaching Intro course, Youth Diploma 1 and Youth Diploma 2.

55 coaches from both grassroots and professional levels of the game travelled from all over the UK and Europe to spend 2 days working under the expert guidance of Coerver® Coaching co-founder, Alf Galustian who delivered a series of theory and practical based sessions.

Coaches also had the opportunity to take part in the adidas® miCoach Smart Ball Power challenge which was won by coach Glenn Thornton with a shot recorded at 70 MPH.

The final practical session of the day saw Coerver® UK Director, Scott Wright deliver a session with Stoke City FC’s U11 ATC players allowing the course attendees to see how the information they had learned over the weekend from a coach education perspective could be applied to a live player session.

Scott said of the course “We are really happy with how our first Youth Diploma 1 course went and the feedback we have had from attendees has been tremendous. I would like to thank everyone that made this such a great course. Stoke City were fantastic hosts as always and it was great to work with such open minded, committed coaches during the two days”.

Scott added “Our next course in London at Fulham FC next weekend sold out a number of weeks ago and our final course in Birmingham in a couple of weeks’ time now only has a handful of places remaining so if you want to attend a Youth Diploma 1 course this year in England make sure to book ASAP”.
