With innovative technology becoming ever increasingly introduced to football to improve performance, Coerver® Coaching have teamed up with adidas® miCoach and Chelsea FC to work on a new series of training videos for the adidas® miCoach Smart Ball.

Coerver® CEO Jimmy Galustian and UK Director Scott Wright travelled to the Chelsea FC training centre in Cobham, Surrey and worked with players from the Premier League champions U16 squad. The young stars were put through a series of practices working on penalty kicks, free kicks, corner kicks & goal kicks using the Smart Ball & App to analyse their performance.

The miCoach smart ball’s unique built-in sensor can tell you everything you need to know about your kick and provides instant feedback on power, spin, strike and trajectory.

Along with this information, exclusive tips and guidance are provided to help the user get the most from their game with all performance data being fed back the miCoach Smart Ball app.

Coerver® UK Director, Scott Wright said “It’s great to be working with adidas miCoach again having been involved in the Smart Ball launch event during the build up to the 2013 Champions League final at Wembley. We have also contributed to the development of the Smart Ball and the App and  having the opportunity to use this technology to work with some of the top youth talent in the country with Chelsea’s U16 players at Cobham was fantastic”.

“From a player development perspective, this is a fantastic tool to use for working on striking the ball in different situations. The performance analysis data that is generated from each action includes slow motion video footage of the strike combined with the power, spin, trajectory and ball strike zone information”.

“This data is relayed pretty much instantly through the app and provides both the player and the coach with information that is impossible to identify with the naked eye”.

Scott added “Currently the technology only works when the ball is hit while still but is being developed to work when the ball is moving. I’m sure we will start to see this being used within professional matches for both in game TV analysis and player performance data in the not too distant future”.

“We have taken delivery of some adidas miCoach Smart Balls and will be using them for a skill challenge on our 2015 Youth Diploma courses in England as well as our Whitsun Performance Academy holiday clinics which I’m sure will be very interesting for those that take part”.
