Coerver® Coaching UK Director, Scott Wright said “We are once again delighted to be putting the sold out signs up for our 2015 Youth Diploma 1 course at Fulham FC. This follows on from the first course of our Youth Diploma season at Stoke City FC this weekend also selling out well in advance”.
“Our London courses are always the ones that attract attendees from overseas and we have ten non UK countries being represented on this up-coming course which really highlights the demand for knowledge in the Coerver programme not only here in the UK but across the world”.
Scott added “There is now only one Youth Diploma course with availability in England during the summer which takes place in Birmingham the week after the London date and we fully expect that this course will also be sold out within the next week or so. With innovative technology becoming ever increasingly introduced to football to improve performance, Coerver® Coaching have teamed up with adidas® miCoach and Chelsea FC to work on a new series of training videos for the adidas® miCoach Smart Ball.
Coerver® CEO Jimmy Galustian and UK Director Scott Wright travelled to the Chelsea FC training centre in Cobham, Surrey and worked with players from the Premier League champions U16 squad. The young stars were put through a series of practices working on penalty kicks, free kicks, corner kicks & goal kicks using the Smart Ball & App to analyse their performance.
The miCoach smart ball’s unique built-in sensor can tell you everything you need to know about your kick and provides instant feedback on power, spin, strike and trajectory.
Along with this information, exclusive tips and guidance are provided to help the user get the most from their game with all performance data being fed back the miCoach Smart Ball app.
Coerver® UK Director, Scott Wright said “It’s great to be working with adidas miCoach again having been involved in the Smart Ball launch event during the build up to the 2013 Champions League final at Wembley. We have also contributed to the development of the Smart Ball and the App and having the opportunity to use this technology to work with some of the top youth talent in the country with Chelsea’s U16 players at Cobham was fantastic”.
“From a player development perspective, this is a fantastic tool to use for working on striking the ball in different situations. The performance analysis data that is generated from each action includes slow motion video footage of the strike combined with the power, spin, trajectory and ball strike zone information”.
“This data is relayed pretty much instantly through the app and provides both the player and the coach with information that is impossible to identify with the naked eye”.
Scott added “Currently the technology only works when the ball is hit while still but is being developed to work when the ball is moving. I’m sure we will start to see this being used within professional matches for both in game TV analysis and player performance data in the not too distant future”.
“We have taken delivery of some adidas miCoach Smart Balls and will be using them for a skill challenge on our 2015 Youth Diploma courses in England as well as our Whitsun Performance Academy holiday clinics which I’m sure will be very interesting for those that take part”.
Coerver® Coaching UK delivered the first Youth Diploma 1 course of 2015 at Stoke City FC on Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th May 2015 which proved to be a big hit with attendees.
The course, which was launched in 2011, and delivered in association with global partner adidas® and presenting partner FourFourTwo magazine, was the first to take place under the newly structured Coerver® Coach Education pathway which now covers three levels to include the Coerver® Coaching Intro course, Youth Diploma 1 and Youth Diploma 2.
55 coaches from both grassroots and professional levels of the game travelled from all over the UK and Europe to spend 2 days working under the expert guidance of Coerver® Coaching co-founder, Alf Galustian who delivered a series of theory and practical based sessions.
Coaches also had the opportunity to take part in the adidas® miCoach Smart Ball Power challenge which was won by coach Glenn Thornton with a shot recorded at 70 MPH.
The final practical session of the day saw Coerver® UK Director, Scott Wright deliver a session with Stoke City FC’s U11 ATC players allowing the course attendees to see how the information they had learned over the weekend from a coach education perspective could be applied to a live player session.
Scott said of the course “We are really happy with how our first Youth Diploma 1 course went and the feedback we have had from attendees has been tremendous. I would like to thank everyone that made this such a great course. Stoke City were fantastic hosts as always and it was great to work with such open minded, committed coaches during the two days”.
Scott added “Our next course in London at Fulham FC next weekend sold out a number of weeks ago and our final course in Birmingham in a couple of weeks’ time now only has a handful of places remaining so if you want to attend a Youth Diploma 1 course this year in England make sure to book ASAP”.

Coerver® Coaching West Midlands are delighted to announce that Performance Academy member Vinnie Dwyer, has signed a new 2 year contract at Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club. Vinnie attends the Performance Academy in Coventry to supplement the work he does within his professional academy environment.
Following the news, Vinnie’s parents Conor & Lisa said “Since Vinnie has attended Coerver we can see a great development in his technical side which is the main reason he attends Coerver. For us as parents, more importantly, we see the Vinnie really enjoying himself and being allowed to express himself with encouragement from all the coaches. Vinnie’s coach, Luke, has been especially supportive of Vinnie both on and off the training pitch which we are incredibly grateful for”.
Marc Campbell, Foundation Phase Lead Coach at Wolverhampton Wanderers recognised the work Vinnie has been doing at Coerver® “Vinnie has developed his technical ability massively over the last 12-18 months which I believe has been due to his development within the academy programme and the additional work that he has been doing with Coerver. Vinnie has continued to develop his ability to manipulate the ball with both feet comfortably in unopposed and opposed situations well and I believe this has increased due to the additional work he has been doing with Coerver”.
Marc added “Vinnie has been keen to feedback to his team mates and coaches about his experiences with Coerver® and was over the moon about being invited to visit Real Madrid (something that every player dreams about) and really enjoyed the time that he spent in Spain. Vinnies application and positive attitude to combine his academy training programme with his Coerver work has no doubt been beneficial to him over his last 18 months with us and I was delighted to offer him another contract with the football club for a further two years”.
Vinnie (Pictured with Real Madrid Castilla player Javier Noblejas) spoke of the signing “I have signed for a further 2 years with Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, with the coaches mentioning my hard work and commitment as some of the reasons I’ve been given the contract. A special mention was given to my technical improvement and how they felt my time with Coerver Coaching has really helped me develop that side of my game. I feel Coerver has helped me socially, physically and technically and it’s a great addition to the great coaching I get with my academy, Wolves”.
Coerver® Coaching West Midlands Performance Academy Manager and Vinnie’s Performance Academy Coach Luke Cheyne was delighted to hear of Vinnie’s news “Vinnie epitomises the type of mindset that has allowed him to continue to progress, on and off the pitch. Vinnie is always keen to understand his strengths and areas for improvement, and off his own back, always requests continuous feedback in regards to this”.
Luke added “His consistent hard work, determination and passion for ensuring no stone goes un-turned in terms of his development as a young player, has seen him improve all aspects of his games whilst involved in the Coerver Programme. He has now begun to develop not only his technical ability with both feet, but also the tactical awareness off the ball. Without a shadow of a doubt, a bright future lies ahead for Vinnie providing he continues his excellent work rate. He is a credit to himself. Well done Vinnie”.
Scott Wright, UK Director Coerver® Coaching said “The concept behind Performance Academy is to give players a professional level of support both on and off the pitch. We have different levels of ability within the programme which are all catered for, the big requirement for us is that the players need to want to learn and work hard while they are with us but also while they are at home. We have had enormous success in terms of players progressing to professional clubs from our programme in the UK which is testament to the fantastic work that the staff here have done and continue to do and of course the application of the players and the commitment of the parents, it really is a team effort”.
Scott added “Vinnie is a prime example of a young player who has worked extremely hard and has benefitted immensely from the environment that we provide here at Performance Academy. Vinnie profited hugely from the Coerver UK PRO Tour whereby 60 Performance Academy players were given the opportunity to travel to Spain and train at the world famous Real Madrid training centre. We wish Vinnie luck in the next part of his football education with Wolverhampton Wanderers and I’m sure if he continues to apply himself in the way he has with us, he will do well”.
Coerver® Coaching West Midlands Performance Academy Player Sam Khan has received an award on behalf of Chelsea Football Club prior to the clubs title winning game against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge last month.
Sam (Pictured above, alongside the 2015 winners) has previously taken part in “Chelsea’s Asian Star”, an initiative aimed at addressing the lack of Asians in the English game, which invites 400 children to the club’s state-of-the-art training facility in Surrey on an annual basis to put them through their paces. Sam came second during his first attempt in 2009 and followed that up by winning the competition in his age category in 2011.
Sam’s mother Ruth explained her pride at Sam’s recognition “Chelsea FC were notified that they were to be presented before kick off against Crystal Palace in May, with an award for their continuing campaign and the recognition its received. Sam, having been an active participant and supporter of this campaign for the past 5 years, was asked if he would receive the award on behalf of Chelsea FC with the owner Roman Abramovich. What an absolute honour for Sam to be asked to do this. His Dad and I are overwhelmed by what he has achieved to date. Of all the people they could have asked, and they asked our Little SK.”
Sam spoke of the competition “I still have great memories of Asian Star, it gave me so much confidence knowing the coaches at Chelsea were impressed with me. The event is so well organised and every player has the chance to impress. My advice would be to give it everything you have but make sure you enjoy the day as that is when you play your best and it can give you a great opportunity in football.”
Sam was in attendance again this year to present trophies to the 2015 winners, which included another Coerver® Coaching West Midlands Performance Academy player Adam Ahmed who won the U9 category.
West Midlands Performance Academy Manager, Luke Cheyne, said of the honour “All at Coerver Coaching UK would like to congratulate Sam on this recognition. Sam works extremely hard within our Performance Academy programme, alongside playing for Nottingham Forest. He continues to develop technically on the pitch as well as mature off it. We are confident that should he keep up this level of dedication to his own development, he is destined for a very bright future. Well done Sam!”
Luke added “We have a number of players within our Performance Academy who currently play for professional clubs, and a number who have signed for professional clubs since being a part of the Coerver programme. We feel that the Performance Academy offers the perfect environment for young players to learn what it takes to make the step up into academy football”.
Last month saw the completion of the Coerver® Coaching UK Youth Diploma 1 courses following successful events held at Stoke City FC, Fulham FC & Birmingham City FC.
Following four hugely successful years since the Youth Diploma course launched in 2011, the newly structured 2015 Youth Diploma 1 , in association with global partner adidas® and presenting partner FourFourTwo magazine, proved to be the biggest and best to date with tremendous feedback from attendee’s.
250 coaches from both grassroots and professional levels of the game traveled from all over the UK and Europe to spend two days working under the expert guidance of Coerver® Coaching co-founder, Alf Galustian. The course consisted of both theory and practical sessions, with the coaches learning about the secrets from over 31 years of success of the Coerver® Coaching Programme, with the course theme being based on session planning.
Coerver® UK Director, Scott Wright delivered a number of player sessions across the three Youth Diploma 1 courses, including sessions with Stoke City and Fulham FC academy players. A session was also delivered with a group of Coerver® Performance Academy players from the West Midlands region.
This model session allowed the course attendees to recognise how the information they had learned over the weekend, could be applied to a live player session. Coaches were able to see how and when the session needed to be adapted to suit the individual needs of each participating player which was a key learning outcome for all attendee’s of the course.
Scott said of the course “We are extremely happy with how our Youth Diploma 1 courses went this summer which all sold out well in advance and were attended by coaches of all levels from around the world”.
“Stoke City FC, Fulham FC and Birmingham City FC have been fantastic hosts as always and it was great to work with such open minded, committed coaches during the two days as well as some fantastic young players who were a real credit to their clubs”.
“We have been inundated with requests for places on the Youth Diploma 1 course in 2015 and we are looking at the possibility of delivering another course before the end of the year. We have a registration of interest open for this now, so get in touch if you want to take part in the course this year”.
2015 Youth Diploma 1 Feedback;
“There are many footballing philosophies that we can all learn from and aspire to in the game that we value so much. But with Coerver Coaching, I have truly found one that I can whole heartedly believe in. The Youth Diploma 1 course has been the most pertinent, rewarding and beneficial educational experience in my coaching career to date”.
“Football education and player development should be the corner stone of any coach or organisation serious about making a positive difference in the lives of young people in the game, irrespective of their playing ability. It’s about unlocking that potential and for me, Coerver Coaching have revolutionized the understanding and the impact of this philosophy in their visionary approach to player development”.
“I fully endorse and highly recommend that if any coach is serious about player development, then they need to get serious about Coerver Coaching”.
“A big thank you and respect to Alf Galustian and also Scott Wright and Luke Cheyne from Coerver UK for hosting a most rewarding programme of learning”.
Yogi Deiry - Youth Diploma 1 attendee
“I did the Coerver Youth Diploma 1 at BCFC. Great course, extremely well presented with a good specific topic. This will definitely help me, and other coaches, plan and deliver better grass roots training sessions”.
“The previous courses I’ve been on, are generally delivered from the point of view of the person delivering the course. To have a course delivered where all the coaches are giving out the same message and are pulling in the same direction, is quite refreshing these days, I look forward to the Youth Diploma 2″.
Jason Adams – Coach and Performance Academy Parent
“I would like to thank Alf Galustian , Peter Bain and the Coerver Staff. There input and knowledge over the two days was thoroughly interesting presenting grassroots/professional coaches an alternative method of developing technical and creative players for the future”.
Sam Woodruff – Barnet FC Academy Coach
“Awesome course, loads of relevant detail, highly recommended if you want to improve session planning”.
Pardeep Sandhu – Youth Diploma 1 attendee Birmingham City FC & Performance Academy Parent
