Scottish FA Grassroots Football Alex Tulloch was a founder member of TASS Thistle and, 30 years later, is both coach and chairman. He is now in his 70s, but has no desire to stop giving kids the opportunity to enjoy playing football. Alex is the first face that all new club recruits see, even at the youngest age level, as he delivers coaching sessions in local primary schools. Around 200 boys and girls are now registered, and the growth of the club each year, the introduction of girl’s football to the area, and the development of new sections, is testament to his work rate and endeavour over so many years. He continues to develop as a coach and club official and regularly attends Scottish FA continuous personal development courses. Alex is passionate about the club he helped to create and continues to share his vision for the development of local facilities in the area to the benefit of future generations of TASS Thistle teams. He is focused on the long-term growth of the club, and has recruited a number of people to the committee who he helps to train to ensure they are equipped to take on key club development positions going forward. He has also given many parents the chance to become coaches. In recognition of his dedication and commitment Alex was nominated in this years McDonald’s People Award 2014.  It champions outstanding volunteers across grassroots football in Scotland with the winner decided by a public vote, which we are extremely please to announce he won.
